Contamination level and risk assessment of heavy metals in the topsoil around cement factory: A case study

The cement industry is considered as a major source of heavy metals pollution in topsoil. This study aims at measuring the metal contamination level vicinity Shiraz factory, and assessing ecological environmental risks associated with factory's activities surrounding To do so, 10 samples soil were taken from around factory depth 0-10 cm concentration some including Al, Cd, Ni, Pb was measured. Enrichment factor (EF), geo-accumulation (Igeo), load (PLI) indices used to assess risk metals.Based on results, mean 6,937.14, 88.09, 1.96, 30.74 mg/kg, respectively. EF results showed that due anthropogenic activities, Pb, Cd element has moderate, severe, very severe enrichment area, Igeo result for -0.82, -0.17, 0.16, 0.68, respectively, which indicates non- slightly these this region. PLI area 1.4 indicating low medium metal. can be useful determining investigating effects factory.
